So while we were downtown, we went up in Eaton's cetnre and found this bird with this shoe. The picture isn't that great, but I felt like I had to post it.

Turns out I now have 10-ish good pics from downtown, which will be going up. iIhave 4 cankersores (however you spell them). FOUR!! WTF!!!!!!

Anyways, 4 more days until school, so thats not that bad.

2 posts in 4 hrs, record!

BTW props to the guy who threw his shoe up there, thats one intense throw.

A shot of the compass rose in the middle of the Eatons centre, un-noticed by most. While Hannah and I were down there, I bought a Sigma 70-210 AF, which is a decent telephoto.

Apparently the planned fish and chips place didnt exist, so we found a really nice vegan restraunt.

I'm still having trouble with over-exposed skies..topleftpixel, reaveal to me your secrets!!!!

So today, my mom's friend from Mexico stopped by and we went skating. It was pretty fun, she has a girl that is 4 I think (thats her in the picure, if you haven't guessed).

She kinda learned how to skate, but its the experience that matters. I also learned alot about Mexico, and Despite how it sounds like not that great of a place, I still really want to visit it, just for the experience.

Michelle, if you end up reading this, I want you to know that you guys should stop by more often, and i will come visit in mexico some day or even France!

You can also see my lovely backdrop, which is blue.

It's sad if you think about it. my equiptment list is;
A torn and crinkled backdrop donated by the school.
A mechanic light
A flood light
Table lamps.

Hence, the colours aren't very true. but I'm workin on it.

I also find, kids are ALOT easier to get pictures of than people my age. It really pisses me off. how are you supposed to get good at taking pictures of people if EVERYONE HIDES WHEN YOU TRY TO TAKE ONE! If I am scary or there is something severely wrong with me which is causing this, please, let me know now.

I have a feeling that people believe I will take a bad picture, and then do something with it that will embarass them or something. Now this is just a theory, but no one has said anyways, so I will assume its valitidy.

A I dont post of facebook, so no one will see it.
B no one on flickr cares about how good the person in the picture looks, its mostly about the picture itself.
C Why would I post a bad picture of a person. If ANYTHING, that just makes me a bad photograhper. Believe me, I if i take a bad picure, it affect me 100x more than you.

I think I want to get good at photography so that when those people who wouldnt let me take their pictures want their portraits done or something and come to me, I can tell them to screw off.

Tmmrw I was gonna go downtown, but apparently I'm just playing coutnerstrike. I have a life, I sware.

I had more to say, but I forgot.

V-neck

A self portrait, [inspiration] also found in the magazine I was reading. Pretty neat, its not cam-whoring if its meant to be artistic. plus its a challnge because you have no idea what AF is focusing on and manual takes more tries than my card can hold.

I really want to start doing portraits, I love Istoica's work, but I need to find people to do portraits of, and then get comfortable doing them, and lastly, get good at doing them.

I also acquired an old blue backdrop from our school today. prety sweet, it has a very..'tattered' look to it.

Exam tmmrw. AHH!

I did a setup in my living room for a school project, and decided to make a little lighting and backdrop scene an shoot some droplets. unforunately 3fps isn's that useful for this. anyone want to lend me an EOS mark II? Also my 18-55 isnt that great for on-the-verge macro, so they arent that clear, they just look like blobs of intense colour floating around in space.
I'm happy because I could get a setup though, it was really neat. I used table lamps and flood lights I found downstairs.

Exams are coming up. CRAP.
not alot of time to take pictures/write alot, so probably more after friday.

"Did-did-did-did-you see the frightened ones?
Did-did-did-did-you hear the falling bombs?
Did-did-did-did-you ever wonder why we had to run for shelter
with the promise of a brave new world
Unfurled beneath a clear blue sky?"

Goodbye Blue sky - Pink Floyd

Shot info is on the flickr site.

This shot was taken from the parking lot at Yonge an HWY 7, looking south.

The picture is inspired by a recent special in the Toronto star called ‘Airsick: Industrial devolution.’ It’s about…industrial devolution I guess, I just looked at the pictures, I didnt read it. It probably has something to do with Earth Hour coming up, and the main shot had some Electrical towers in it. I was depressed that Edward Burtynsky was not included in the group of photographers, it's kind of his thing, but he’s probably too busy anyways, not to mention that there is a good chance he is in some foreign country taking pictures of their environmental issues.

I think I should first mention that I think I’m going to be writing a bit more in the blog because..I can, so you can either just look at the picture, or read a little bit.

Yesterday I did a little math, then went to Indigo, bought February's issue of DigitalSLR photography (I know there are at least two of my friend that are laughing as they read that), and read for about 2 hours. It was really, good, sit down and relax away from..stuff. There were some amazing shots from Wales and some actually useful tips that I’m going to try.

It was FRICKIN COLD!
I planned on taking a few pictures on the way, but I couldn’t stand outside for more than a few minutes without losing control of my hands, which hinders my ability to press the shutter release, so I only took a few.

Thirdly, I found an article in the globe and mail about Taking pictures in Starbucks. It was funny because Sarah and I had just gone to starbucks 2 days ago with my SLR and we took pictures, and that I have been debating over the issue with my mom for a while. The article investigates why “no photography” policies exist in stores, which I personally disagree with. I may be bias, because I am a photographer and I don't own a store, but I think the article pretty much covers my views. Just a quick add-on, when we went into Starbucks, I took about 50 pictures, and taking shots with an DSLR isn’t necessarily the most discrete thing you can do in a coffee shop. One of the workers actually told me I could! I didnt even ask! Funny thing is, another employee (I think he was manager) told me I couldn’t, but this was after we were done our 6 dinks and about to leave. He didn’t even tell ME! He just kind of whispered it to Sarah while I was throwing away the cups, and by the little bit of it I heard, it didn’t sounds like he really minded either, it was just for the sake of him having to say it.

So there you go, my 2 cents worth for today.

'till tmmrw.

Afterparty afterthought.

20.01.08

Afterparty afterthought.

Yes, they are both words.

Car rides give you alot of time to reflect on what you just did.
I think its funny how people work, how we prepare for a social event, then we go and 'preform' the actual event, and then we kinda reflect back on it.

I really want to set up my tripod on the hill north of tower hill in the middle of yonge street and take a long exposure looking down, but I also dont want to die, so I'll probably hold that one off for a bit.

Sarah, your party was great, movie..not so great but in that sense, it was still great.

Exams...6 days...lame.

So possibly I get my new pentax tmmrw..and then I can do some editing at home. I hope everyone is liking the pictures so far, cuz its been fun taking them.

It's ok, there is a good chance, that while you are reading this, I am watching prison break.
